Journey: I have had lifetime of experience with dis-ease and pain and am no stranger to doctors and hospitals. I have had several doctors shocked that I am not only alive but I am able to operate in this world in what “seems” like a normal way. Like many people who’s physical issues are below the surface and not “seen”, we are judged as “you look okay” thus you must “be okay”, and the issues you face can’t be real because you don’t look different from the outside. My journey has been one of trusting my inner voice and being guided to modalities and supports that have helped me live the most “functional” life I am capable of living.
Growth: I’ve completed over 1000 hours of yoga teacher training in a variety of yoga asana styles (Ashtanga, Yin, Hatha, Restorative, Nidra, Pre/Post Natal, Senior/Gentle) and have certificates in Chakras, Somatics, Qi Gong, Thai Yoga Massage, and History/Philosophy of Yoga. In addition, I am a Doula and have a Counseling Degree in Child Psychology. Through the many modalities I have explored and, have experience with, I have found Yoga gave me the most profound results. My personal yoga practice and yoga teaching evolved and deepened in a way I could have never imagined. I began the practice of Vinyasa yoga as a means of keeping my body physically fit, strong, pliable and relaxed. The ethics and energy behind the physical practice of yoga was amazing and fit perfectly with my life. I saw everything as possible in yoga (vs. impossible). As I continued to practice yoga my physical health improved, and my mind and soul felt better too. I realized yoga was more than just physical exercise. I recognized I could live my yoga every day, not just when I was stretching on my mat. Yoga is more than Westerners give it credit for, as much of the heart of yoga has been removed, and is ignored by today’s world. If you allow yourself to open to its possibilities, yoga can take you to a world that is joyous and pure. There really is nowhere to go, but inward. It is part of my ‘dharma’ to help pass this on to the world.
Service: My personal goals, and part of what I want to share, are… 1) To practice non-attachment to worldly things [as I have more freedom when I release control, I have less stress, and have come to understand attachments can limit ultimate happiness]; 2) To continue to explore the difference between truth and untruth [a moral compass in my life]; 3) To continuously study and incorporate the eight limbs of Yoga into my life and; 4) To live consciously in my daily life. My mission is to inspire and guide others on their personal life journey, to teach from and live from my true and authentic self, to listen to my intuition, and to live each day with no regrets and create no resentments
I often say the power is in the ‘Pause’ – the space in our mind (thought) that is between the stimulus and response. In this space is our power to choose our responses. In our responses lies our growth and freedom! I invite you to join me on your mat for the ride of your lifetime!
